The Lake St. Catherine Association is working to make the Little Lake deeper and less weedy.
The organization recently received a $17,960 grant from the state Department of Environmental Conservation to fund Eurasian milfoil harvesting operations on the Little Lake — the southern spur of Lake St. Catherine.

David Emmons, vice president of the association, said the group recently resumed harvesting after several years without any specific anti-milfoil activity — chemical treatment was discontinued in 2010 and the lake had not been harvested in 12 years.
