Minnesota’s Murray County to Review AIS Plan

During today’s Murray County Board meeting, Zoning/Environmental Administrator Jean Christoffels will be reviewing amendments to the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention and Management Plan that will guide the spending of $88,500 in 2018.

Christoffels is encouraging the county board to make the following amendments to the county’s plan:

• With the help of local printing companies, create colorful and attractive promotional items that can be distributed at various events and locations to help inform the public about AIS issues.

• Replace “Partner with the MN DNR to receive a grant for ‘Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers’ signage at all public access points, with Identify additional areas that could benefit from supplemental AIS signs and/or banners and partner with those landowners to spread the message about preventing the spread of AIS.”
