We need to be effective stewards of our environment and that’s what the Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! campaign is all about. By taking the pledge, you become a card carrying member of a special group of stewards who love and enjoy our waters and want to prevent the impacts of invasive species. The pledge is a reminder and a statement about how you value America’s resources.

  • Take the Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers! pledge today, adopt the right behaviors to protect the environment from aquatic hitchhikers, and help us reduce the spread of invasive exotic species. All you need to do is fill out the form below and we’ll send you various marketing materials and an official membership card (you can also download this from the site).
  • The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, as the campaign’s primary sponsor and all of our partner organizations, thanks you for your actions in joining this elite group of 21st century conservationists to help raise the profile of individual aquatic invasive species prevention actions.

Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers Pledge

I want to do my part to protect the waters where I recreate and any waters that I might visit. I pledge to abide by the following each time I visit a body of water.

  • Remove any visible mud, plants, fish or animals before transporting equipment.
  • Drain water from equipment before transporting
  • Clean and dry anything that came in contact with water (Boats, trailers, equipment, clothing, dogs, etc.)

Educational Tools - School Lessons

Another good way to get involved with the campaign and preventing the spread of invasive species is to educate others about the prevention behaviors. We’ve compiled a list of different websites where you can go to get various educational resources to help in your efforts to inform others.
